I just forgot how to use it! ![]() I grew up with Macs (and the random DOS machine or two), from the Classic on. For the last few years, though, I've been out of the geek loop and for various reasons had to use WinBlows. Now that I can start to geek again, the first thing I did was put a workable Linux (and Haiku) on the laptop... and then I hit eBay for the computers I actually like. I have, in various stages of functionality, several laptops running everything from 10.4.11 down to 7.6. I'm typing this on a 3400c under 7.6, actually, and it has wiiiiiiings! I'm going back to school in the next year or so for computer things, and I personally love the idea of taking one of these 'obsolete' machines in to do light work. Unfortunately, I'm just out of practice using the older systems, even though I get less and less comfortable the further I get from 6 and 7. So I'm getting my toys now, and hopefully by the time I get back to school, I'll be fully in the game with them! From what I've seen, this looks like a very friendly group, and I hope you will be patient with me as I remember how I used to do things, and learn some new tricks! |

Welcome to the group. By some odd coincidence I also happen to have Linux and Haiku installed on a laptop, but for this group that is pretty off topic. Using Macs is sort of like riding a bike, it does not take very long to pick it up after you have been away for some time. bill

Apologies, I sometimes ramble a bit, and that often leads to me going off topic.
