I have installed on my performa 6116 the sonnet nubus g3 at 500 mhz. I have also bought a pds video card but i have this problem. When i connect the card on the sonnet nubus slots, then i connect the monitor and everything work fine. But only when the cover of the computer is not closed. When i put on the cover the computer doesn't turn off. what can i do?

Sounds like either the Sonnet card or the video card is hitting the top of the enclosure.  I have a similar card in my 7100 - It is really tight fit, so tight I am afraid to have an old CAT monitor sit on top and I have trouble using the CD-ROM drive.

Not sure what you can do with it.  At one time there was an expansion chassie for the LC series that basically popped up the existing enclosure, making it 3 x as high.  I don't know if there was ever anything like that for the 6100 series or if a 7100 chassie which is higher would sit on that base.

Exactly this is the problem i guess. The sonnet card or the video card hit is hitting the top of the cover so the computer does not turn on at all.

I taped a plastic material inside of the cover above the sonnet/pds cards and now it works fine :)

Watch how much weight you have on top of the computer (ie large CAT monitor).  With tolerances that tight and a little deformation of the case, I am guesing that you could get some damage.

Just a thought
