When I go to the Desktop Patterns Control Panel, I can't seem to find any of the color patterns (ppat), just the black and white ones (PAT#). However, I could find the color patterns embedded in the control panel using ResEdit, and I could set one up by going to ppat--> Try Pattern, but once I either quit or click away from the window, it reverts back to the B&W pattern. So, I tried to use a third party program called Decor to put up a wallpaper, but even its built-in wallpaper won't work. However, while Decor is turned on, I went to ResEdit, opened a color pattern, and once I hit "Try Pattern", the wallpaper I set in Decor comes on instead. I am running System 7.5.5.

You know, in honesty, I was not aware that there was color patterns and have been trying to remember if I ever used a color pattern.

Perhaps Decor is creating conflicts with the pattern control panel? I came across this simple tutorial, which covers pattern editing in ResEdit.

I managed to get color patterns by going to Macintosh HD-->System Folder-->Preferences and deleting the Desktop Patterns prefs file. Then, when I opened Desktop Patterns, it created a new file, and now I have color patterns! I got the information from this website. Thanks for helping me though.
