I do have one problem that I hope someone can answer. It has to do with the fact that when I do an AppleShare IP connection and try to mount a sharepoint from my eMac running 10.5.8, my Colo(u)r Classic freezes every time when I click connect and it doesn't matter if I use the encrypted or not. I am running OT 1.3 and AppleShare 3.8.3 as this web site suggests on Mac OS 7.6.1. I hope I don't have to reinstall 7.6.1 in the CC. Any suggestions? SkipR. |

Oh, and sometimes I get an Error code 10 system crash. Hmm, I used to have a program that told me what all of those errors meant. Where is it??? Rummage, rummage......

Are you able to perform other network activities from the CC such as connecting to website or FTP server?

I was running OT 1.3 on a IIci and I enabled a network connection to my OS X 10.4.11 G5. I was able to back up my entire IIci hard drive. I found that I cannot mount a file system on my G5 Tiger (10.4.11) box, but I can mount the G5 shared items on the IIci (and others). This should be sufficient for now. Make sure you are running AppleTalk on OS X and that you have personal file sharing checked in the Sharing control panel on OS X - and that any other network inhibitors allow a connection through AppleTalk. Then on the CC, type in the IP address of the OS X system by clicking the button on the chooser and filling it in. If "alles ist in Ordnung" you will get a login dialog which will allow the display of all the shared folders for which the login has permission. AFAIK, Apple chose incomplete support of the older AppleTalk protocol (16-bit?) on the later releases of OS X.

I don't know if the above will work for 10.5.8 since I haven't tried it yet. Other topics appear to deal with transfers: "Connecting to Leopard". Apparently Fetch can access Leopard if FTP is enabled in sharing.

Well, any FTP client will connect to any Mac OS X computer if FTP sharing is enabled in System Preferences. It's much less convenient than AppleShare, though.
