I installed System 7.5.3 on this machine, it has an IR port and everything, the IRTalk extension is in the Extensions folder, but no IR option in the AppleTalk control panel! Please help! |

are you sure that's an actual IRTalk port and not just a TV Remote port? Remote Control ports can only listen, IRTalk and IRDA need two-way communication. There are 3rd-party solutions for adding IRTalk capabilities to your desktop Mac, but I'm pretty sure you can't IRTalk through the IR reciever for the TV remote.

I'm pretty sure Quadra/LC/Performa 630s do have an IR port in the front. I have two of these and I'm pretty confident thats what it is. I've never used IR in my life though. Perhaps just try LocalTalk?

DaveRhodes is right. That is simply the TV remote sensor. Go to: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50044 click on the PDF manual for the Perfoma 600 series and go to page 39 of the PDF file (page 31 of the manual) for confirmation. JoAT
