Any copyright issue involved on OS7.6.1 ?

But it seems like OS7.5.5 can be doing in this way, as it has been opened by Apple.

Apple has never released OS 7.6.1 into the wild, so there are no legitimate ISO images.

There is always an inherent risk in using a System when one does not have working copies of the installer. One of the utilities included with Iomega'a Zip tools was an application to create an emergency boot disk with utilities from an existing system. Norton's Disk Utilities has also included this function as well.

As a general rule Mac's have little real use for de-fragmentation because disk fragmentation has very little impact on the Mac's operation. A simple and straight forward method of de-fragmenting a hard drive is to simple copy its contents to another disk which just by its nature creates a de-fragmented copy.

If your Mac can use System 7.5.5, which is more readily obtainable, you can then use it as a boot system from which to run a de-fragmentation utility.

Apple will give you a 7.5.3 image here, the only caveat being you have to have a Mac pull the image together out of the part files before you can do anything with it. Then after installing, you can apply the 7.5.5 update from Apple.

If you don't have a way of getting the image out of the part files, then the other way to get Mac OS images is to seek out a certain bay of pirates, but remember that 7.6 and later are still illegal to download. I don't think Apple would get mad if you downloaded a 7.5 disc image though.

I got mine from this seller on eBay.  $8.50 + $4.00 shipping and it is the generic retail 7.6.1 not a version bundled with hardware.

I'm just a satisfied buyer, not associated with this seller except having bought a couple of these.
