Software for illustrations

Minimalist 128 MB Posts: 186	on: March 20, 2008, 14:14 I'm looking for some software that I can use for drawing illustrations. I have to communicate with some authorities, so I have to prepare for the inevitable situation of having to get my point across to people with single digit IQs. There are a few prerequisites: I have no visual talent or skill to speak of. I have trouble faithfully reproducing anything more complicated than a stick figure. So I'm looking for software that assumes no skill on the part of the user. I will not be using this software for a prolonged period of time, and I have absolutely zero interest in developing any graphical skills. So, I prefer software that has almost no learning curve whatsoever. So I'm not really looking for professional software; I don't want anything that I have to spend more than five minutes learning to use.

That said, your best bet for quality communication material without skill is going to be something like purchasing the content (very very cheaply) from istockphoto.com There are similar absolutely free content sites like morguefile.com but the selection is vastly lower and quality not nearly as good. With content in hand you can create your message on top of it, etc. As for actual classic mac software, I am a huge fan of SuperPaint if you can find it which has both drawing and painting modes with some features that put it a notch above standard paint and draw... It was the most intuitive easy to use program for the feature set I found in the classic era... On new Macs Purgatory Design has a product called Intaglio that to me captures some of the ease of use with great capabilities that made the old macs a pleasure to use. Good luck!

They have quite some finished templates for you to type some texts and import some ready pictures. good luck !!
