Hello everyone!

I have been trying to figure out a way to playback dvd movies using system 7.6.  I have a "Wired4dvd" pci card that will work under os 8.0 (according to the manual).  I think that the only thing that Os 8.0 added was udf drive access, but this can be added to O.S. 7.6 using the free "udf access" extension that was released by adaptec.  So, I was wondering if using the wired card, dvd player software, and udf extension would this allow dvd playback in 7.6?  Has anyone tried this? i would try it myself, but i don't have a machine at the moment that will boot 7.6.

Thanks!

Douglas

Whoops!  Looks like my question has already been answered here...

I guess there IS a system 7.6.1 dvd movie solution already out there!  I still wonder if my method would also work...someday when i get an os 7.6 machine up and running I'll try it!

Reviving an old topic in hopes of finding anyone with a solution...
I've had a set of the wired mediapress/wired4dvd cards sitting around for a while waiting for me to finish equipping out a system 7.6.1 pci mac again...
Wired4DVD acts odd:

Using a 9500

the card works fine in system 8.0->9.2.2

in system 7.6.1 the card appears to work fine, brings up the display window, etc, BUT the green overlay layer is not present in the window.
switching to fullscreen crashes the application
auto-configuring the overlay layer crashes the application
all other configuration options operate fine, even the border threshold selector (for configuring the overlay color's threshold), and the alignment/stretching setting (that actually shows the dvd playing)
if i match the color to the threshold's settings and draw a box in that color on the screen, i can view the video inside it, like normal zoomed video support

all the controls work fine, and the dvd plays back fine...
pcm and mac audio outputs are fine, as is video routed to the svideo output jack on the back of the wired card...

It's got me baffled as to what is THAT different between 7.6.1 and 8.x's video drivers, I'd love to get this running officially in system 7...

I've tried the following video cards (and drivers to match)
TwinTurbo Apple OEM short card
TwinTurbo Apple OEM long card
ATI Rage 3d Pro? card
ATI Rage 128 Apple OEM card
ATI Radeon Retail PCI card
Voodoo3 2000 PCI
Voodoo3 3000 PCI

all with the same issues- I had read somewhere that an ati card was required, but this seems to make NO difference whatsoever...

Ideas guys?
I'd love to give the Cool DVD card a shot, but it's been years since I saw one for sale.. wired cards are still sold off their website en masse for cheap...

Oh, and the config has been tested in:
7300
7500
8500
9600/350 (I'd be using this if it wasn't for the incompatability with the sonnet 1ghz)
