I'm preparing to clock chip my 25MHz Quadra 700 to 33MHz. I need that little bit of extra oomph to make this machine just a tad bit more useable. I'm convinced that this upgrade will get me to where I want to be. At least, it should get me closer to what I'm used to as far as 68k performance goes -- I'm 33MHz spoiled. lmfao. I've already tracked down a fan for the processor to keep it running a little cooler. I've also pulled the old 25MHz 68040 processor and replaced it with a 33MHz processor. This in and of itself won't give me any more speed or performance than the stock processor, though it should hopefully be a little more stable when I replace the oscillator. The next step is to track down a 66MHz oscillator to replace the stock 50MHz unit. This little silver box is what will give me the extra horsepower. And this machine really needs it. |

If you can find one of the Sonnet QuadDoublers you'd have a 50mhz 68040.

I already found one. I just don't know if it would be worth the money. I'm actually thinking of tossing the old Quadra. It's just too slow to meet any need that I may have for it.
