I've always wanted to have a Color Classic, and after I got my iPhone connected to my Core 2 Duo iMac, I got an idea. I found a Color Classic on eBay with 10 megs of RAM and a NIC card already installed. I wiped it clean with 7.6.1 and did all the networking updates you will find on the Ultimate Update list here. Using ShareWay IP, I am able to serve files from the Color Classic running 7.6.1 to my iMac running 10.5.1. Then, running a little program called iPhone Remote, I'm able to share anything mounted on my iMac to my iPhone, including the Color Classic! It's awesome as works beautifully with a GUI and everything! I have been able to stream MP3's and pictures directly from the CC to my iPhone. Next step, get a Mac Plus running System 7 and connect it to the CC using Appletalk over LocalTalk and share it's hard drive. Then the CC can share the Plus's hard drive over TCP/IP to my iMac, and from there to the iPhone! |
