Hello everyone! Coming from a Commodore 64 programming background, I have always missed the simplicity (at least to me) of programming with an interpreted version of BASIC and have been looking for one for my Macs. Well, I ran across a really nice freeware BASIC that seems to me to be exactly what I was looking for here... http://www.nicholson.com/rhn/basic/ The program is called "Chipmunk BASIC" and it is really fun for old timers like myself who grew up on this kind of stuff. Anyways, there is a copy of the language there that runs on older macs, including OS 7.6 machines so I just wanted to throw this out in case there are any other old 8-bit users here. Have fun!!! Douglas

I went from a CBM 8032 to the Commodore 128 skipping right over the Commodore 64. I found the GEOS operating system and it was using GeoPublish on the Commodore 128 that lead me to Aldus PageMaker on the Mac. I really did miss the quick little stuff you could with the BASIC interpreter on the Commodore. It is true that now we have glorious applications to do things, but it was nice to just quick suitable answers to small problems. It probably is an age thing, but Macs have never seemed to have that personal feel of the old computers. I have used Chipmunk Basic off and on over the years and it is a very nice little application. It is available for everything from System 6 right up to to the newest Mac OS. bill

That's great! I find it funny that the Commodore can be compared as more personal, which I can fully understand, but Apple's ads and slogans has always been to make Macs more personal!
