I've been trying to install a font on my Quadra 840AV (OS 7.6.1) and I'm having some strange issues. I have a font suitcase for Adobe Garamond that's installed on my Power Mac running OS X, where it works fine. I wanted to install this font on the Quadra too, so I drag the suitcase into the System Folder and it registers in Nisus Writer, but I have a problem. When I type text with the font, it appears pixellated , even though it's supposed to be a TrueType font suitcase. At first I thought maybe the font was some sort of newer format incompatible with System 7, but the creation date on the file is sometime in 1995, so I assume that's not the case. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks in advance.

That font is most likely a PostScrip font. To get it to display properly on screen you need to have Adobe Type Manager installed.

OK, now I see I need that. Having trouble finding out where to get a version compatible with my system, though; any suggestions?

The lite version for 761 could prove to be difficult to locate. I got  the 4.0 DeLuxe from Ebay for something like EUR 4.

That's great!

I know that Reader  upgrades ATM, if it also install's from the ground  then that would be real good and easy solution.

I have had the DeLuxe for some time now already, so have never checked. At least PageMaker has the ATM lite included.

Looks like the version of Acrobat Reader on this site is PPC-only anyway. I guess I'll cross my fingers for an old version of Deluxe on eBay... why is it so difficult to find anything but the latest version of freeware?

A free version of ATM was included with System 7.5. A version was also included with QuickDraw GX. The QuickDraw GX version was to handle the GX fonts, but it also works fine with other fonts and does not require that any of the other QuickDraw GX components be installed.

I am not sure of later versions of Acrobat Reader, but for versions out during the System 7 era, the ATM installed with the reader package only worked with Reader and was disabled with working with the rest of the OS.

OK, I managed to install ATM using the QuickDraw GX installer on my Mac OS 7.6 CD, it's in my Control Panels folder and says it's active, but I'm not getting any results with fonts. Is there something else I need to do?
