What are the options for C/C++ programming on these older Macs. I am a developer by trade but have always developed on Solaris, Linux or (sorry) Windows for a living. Don't the newer macs use Objective-C as the primary language ? |

Newer Macs use mostly Objective-C and Xcode. On older Macs you can get the Macintosh Programmers Workshop, which is free: http://download.system7today.com/MPW-GM.img.bin (I haven't made a page for it yet) Or you can get CodeWarrior. I think Symantec also made something older.

Quote from: "madmann" symantic did produce think c They also released Symantic C++. That's what I have. If I'm not mistaken, they also made Think Pascal 4.5d available for free download at one time. I've been meaning to learn Pascal for a long time. Perhaps now is the time. ![]() For coding the old Macs, I would go with Metrowerks CodeWarrior. They have both C/C++ compilers and some even do Pascal. WooT! CodeWarrior is what Apple recommended to those wanting to develop for the Classic Macintosh machines. So it's probably best to go with what Apple wanted developers using. And Apple wanted developers using CodeWarrior!
