I am having some rights issues.

i have a std user in os x and when i log into my os x machine from my 761 machine it will only allow me to connect with my user folder and not my data hard drive (2nd drive).

but if i log into my admin account from system 761 both drives and the user folder are options.

so how from os x do i allow connection with a std user to other drives etc

also the data hard drive has the ignore ownership checked

I think that  is normal behavior for OS X. You might try this. When logged into the OS X machine on your user account, select the item you wish to share. From the menu choose "get info". The resulting box will have a permissions section near the bottom. Select to give everyone read/right access to the file/folder/drive.

From what I can tell the "ignore permissions" means simply that permission are ignored and not that permissions do not exist or are not. This works fine for users working on the computer.

For network connectivity permissions need to be explicitly set so even though permissions are ignored locally, they are not ignored over the network. Make sure the owner of the account you are logging into has explicit permission to read/write to the drive and to all its enclosed folders and files. You can set permissions for the drive even though you have set "ignore permissions".

Bill is correct that what you described is normal under Mac OS X, users can see their own home folder and admin users can see complete volumes. This behavior can be changed via NetInfo Manager but is completely unsupported as editing raw directory data in NetInfo can cause your Mac OS X system to become unbootable.

I do not know what to change off the top of my head but a post on the Apple discussion boards would certainly find the answer. It may be posted on http://www.macosxhints.com as well should you care to look.

I am a bit of a purist but I would remind you that 1) there is a good philosophical reason that only admin users can see whole volumes 2) if you want all users to be able to see all volumes, why not make them all admin users?

As Always,
