Well, I guess I'm a little late introducing myself, being a member and "casual browser" since last year and all, but better late then... I'm a 37 years old dedicated Mac-freak since -96. Right now I'm sittin' in front of my old Performa5260 runnin' OS761. What I find most amazing about this machine is that it's still goin' strong - and totally original! (well, the internal battery changed once.) The HD, memory, screen and all never seems to wanna retire, even though I use it on an almost daily basis. Nowadays mostly as a "typewriter" when my other mac's are busy doin' heavier stuff. Apple sure know how to build premium quality thingies! (My other machines are a PM8500/180, a PMG4/500/AGP and a MBP17"/2.33/intelcore2duo) I have a lot of old SCSI-based hardware (mainly audio-devices), which I still use and that's another reason for keeping it plugged in, down in the darkest corner of my LAN. Strangely enough I also find it somewhat (hmmm) meditative, just sitting and clicking away with it when I have nothing better to do. Playing old games, trying old apps and so on. Weird uh? So when I stumbled upon S7T I knew I've found da place for me! I've solved many problems using the info provided here, while trying to keep my seniors happy'n'ticking. Thanx for a great site for us ol'timers! Keep on Macin' Folks! |
