Does anyone know if any special software is needed to use a Centris/Quadra (650 and higher) PDS slot 601 board?? I have a board that casues a bomb on boot up and I don't know if it's bad, or just not recognized because of a missing driver or extension. |

Well, very much thanks to Dan Knight over at Low End Mac for e-mailing me the driver file that I needed to get the PPC 601 upgrade working. I know it is working because under "About this Computer" (why did they change it from "About this Macintosh"??) it now displays Power Macintosh instead of Macintosh like it did before and the PPC specific parts of Mac OS 7.6 that wouldn't load with the 040 are now loaded and running. I don't have any benchmarking software, though, or I'd post some test results, but I'm happy this is all working now.

Quote from: "Old Mac Geezer" why did they change it from "About this Macintosh"?? The clones are not Macs, they're computers that happen to run the Mac OS.
