Been running MpegDec on my 7500/100 and it's solid gold. Runs very nicely in the background streaming web radio while I browse or work with documents. MTT's bundle from the Mac Garden (look it up!) comes with three AutoTypers that make it simple to use and spares you using a type / creator editor. Sweet! One thing I noticed is the record function. MpegDec will record what I stream from my playlist into a local StreamOut.mp3 file. I have not the slightest idea how and why I activated it (and how I'd disable it again, given the meager menu of MpegDec) but it saves radio streams from my playlist reliably to file. Only gripe is it saves it with file type MPEG and creator TVOD, which isn't MpegDec's own native and requires using one of the autotypers. Has somebody else used the record function yet ? |

What kind of bit rate. I did try it before my se/30 died and it didn’t work welll but the default bit rate was high so likely my fault

Quote from: Bolkonskij: "Has somebody else used the record function yet ?"Yes, it works well (at least it does on my '040 and G4 Mac's), although I don't know it's limits or what may happen if/when you would hit the 2GB mark ![]() Where is the record function? It's in MpegDec's Preference settings. -See "MpegDec - streaming audio, playlist pros & cons", as shown at bottom of that screenshot ("Image 6 of 7" on the MG's MpegDec page).

Thanks for pointing that out! :-) I find it does a fairly good job at recording these streams while using relatively few disk space for it. My only wish would be for it to split the songs into individual mp3 files after each one, but then that feature would probably get it into the grey area of mp3 ripping ... :-)

Quote from: Bolkonskij All in all, I'd say it's an extremely cheap hobby compared to others. The danger is rather to keep it at one or two models and not fiftyAt one point I had over 30 computers, possibly more... PCs, Macs, and Apple computers. To save space, I took the motherboards out of some PCs and recycled the cases, keeping the motherboards. That was mainly on my Pentium II computers. I have broken down and recycled some PCs recently. I also had many monitors and printers, but I am trying to recycle more. I only hoard computers and tech But they're neatly organized on shelves haha! But don't worry! I'm gradually reducing my inventory ![]() Also, congratulations on your 1500th post!

Interesting! ![]() I know I have ended up with saved streams on my desktop; I suppose I may have had it on without realizing myself? ![]() But that piece of MP3 playback and streaming software is a true gem, especially for '040 Macs that don't have any other way of playing or recording such media
