I can definitely do a build that at least warns you and quits instead of crashing if you don't have it....but a version that doesn't require it?  I Have no idea how much work that'd be.

I'd like to call Goliath done and move on to other projects, especially since I'm not sure how many people will actually use it.  (One cool use I've heard about is that iCloud disk uses WebDAV, so that'd be very useful for transferring between modern and ancient).

Now, if I knew it'd end up being something people would regularly use, like , "Bolkonskij would end up using this at least once/twice a week", that's a whole other story!  I think you get the idea, ie I'd be willing to work on it for buds, but not just for grins.

----

From what I remember, Appearance didn't do a WHOLE lot other than, well, make things appear differently.  And it looks like PowerPlant at one point included "greyscale" classes to implement at least controls that had the look even if you didn't have the extension.  The question is if those were still in the CW8 PowerPlant, which I have to use.  Like MacTCP, which the CW6 version supported, but the CW8 doesn't, they may have removed it once they knew everyone had moved to MacOS 8+.

Anyway, I'll take a look and see if I can gauge how much work it'd be, when I put in the warning and have it quit if you don't have it.

Here are the spaces I know WebDAV is very useful for older Macs:

It's used by many hosting companies where they may have moved on from standard FTP; many cloud services, including one I use a lot, pcloud, support the WebDAV protocol, and finally, your working 68k WebDAV client version now also provides a way to access a local WebDAV host :)

I'll definitely start using both of your Goliath versions!!! :D

Definitely the case here. You have to see it this way - you'll be giving classic Instant Messaging back to 68k, but with a connection to modern life (as opposed to legacy users)

I know that Knezzen was very much interested to maintain this project, so if you can get it to compile (which is what we all failed at) I'm positive he'll gladly take over further development. But I let him confirm that here :)
