I just joined. Nice to meet you all. I used Apple II computers in school before they got Macintosh computers. I didn't get my first Mac until some time in the early 2000s. I just remember that I thought they were so cool. When I was in high school they had Macs that ran System 7.

I have many Macs, and I have a few that run System 7. I never had a computer in the '90s. I wanted one so bad, but my parents had no need for one, and couldn't afford one anyway. I'm so sad that I didn't get to participate in the wonderful computer stuff in the '90s. I miss the early World Wide Web, when it was just HTML and Javascript. The internet was so much more enjoyable back then. I loathe the bloated websites nowadays.

Well anyway, nice to meet you all, and I look forward to many fun times ahead!

Welcome @ShinobiKenobi and great to have you join our friendly little community!

Yes, I'd say you sure missed something. I can kind of relate, because I only got into the Macintosh with a family LC back in 1991 or 1992 ... no experience on the original 80's pioneering Mac days like our @wove has but man, those must have been some days! :)

The good thing is that by getting these old Macs and sticking around places like here, you'll discover many ways to re-live the excitement and joy of the 90s - and learn a thing or two about old Macs and the joy of pushing them well beyond what were their known capabilities.

If you browse around the forum you'll find plenty of things you can do with your Performa (or other older Macs) online these days - from Gopher to BBSing to Usenet :-)

Hope you'll stick around and participate in the forum :-)

Welcome ShinobiKenobi! :D

Outside of those noisy fans, lol :P we're all 'fans' of real Macs; I used System 6 Macs in higher ed then System 7 at work on IIci, and my first own Mac was a Classic II, which travelled with me overseas, where I really got into the tail-end of 68k Macs!

I am so happy that the Mac novelty of back then continues to live on even now; it's an experience and a personal journey for each one of us well worth sharing and preserving, and all of that is best done together for sure! :)
