The S7T "New" gif, "new.gif", which is an animated gif that blinks the word "New" repeatedly.

I allow all gifs to load in a page, but have my browser set to stop any that loop, after 1 pass of the animation.

For me this "New" gif stops on the last image, which is a red splat. And not quite so pleasing, aesthetically speaking.

Now I wonder if others viewing these pages, also restrict gif animations, and if so, do they also stop on the "red splat"?

If they do stop on that pass of the animation (and it's not just me). Perhaps this gif could be re-done so that the final image of the loop is the word "New" instead. This would represent unread messages more accurately.

Mine do loop, so I hadn't experienced that, so I'd say it's okay to animate, just tweaked so that it displays properly at the beginning instead of the end; in fact, the first image can be placed at the end so that it can look okay as a static image and since it's a looping GIF, problem solved :)

Which is what I was alluding to in the last paragraph of my post.

But, it's up to the "powers above" as to whether or not it's a problem to be solved here. ;)

[Solved]

Sorry for the naff thread. I had set animated gif's to loop once, which caused the new.gif to stop on the last pic (red splat)

Setting the browser preferences to not loop at all, fixes the issue for me.

Now it only shows a preferable "New" as the gif, without looping or stopping on the red splat. 8)
