There is no sun in England. That must be a rumour.

You’re not wrong 😑!!! It hasn’t been the warmest day but have a bit of sun today and tomorrow (ok no rain) it’s came out pretty well. I’m going to give the worst side another blast in the 10 minutes of sun tomorrow. Overall given it’s winter and the uk it’s worked pretty well. I’ll need to get a magic eraser tomorrow as it has some scuff marks that need attention. Nothing major but if i’m selling for top dollar on eBay it needs to look the part ![]() I’ve sending half the proceeds to Cballero so he can get his brother a classic mac in the states as it wasn’t worth the transport costs to send the 6500 to the usa due to its weight. http://revontulet.org/2022/11/12/E7D16A9D-5282-4EEC-BCE2-1931EC81F498.jpeg The near orange one side needs a bit more

Yes 40% volume peroxide cream. It works better and quicker with sunshine though! I was lazy as I normally strip down the machine to do a retrobrite but this time i didn’t bother. I simply painted the cream on to the full tower in the garden, wrapped it with cling film for 3 hours and left it outside. Once an hour rubbed it to stop steaks. Worked well given the weather

Omg, Neal, that looks absolutely amazing! Retrobrite's fantastic, wow!! It really can turns a vintage Mac computer into a brand-new machine, will you look at that!! ![]() I'm telling you, if I had any trips out to England (I've gone twice before, as recently as 2017 I think?) I totally would have put that beautiful Mac into my checked luggage, but like you said, this beauty can do one better by saving on that astronomical pricing you saw for overseas shipping!! ![]() This is where it pays to know families in the U.S. military since they get all of their household goods and furniture shipped at no charge! The family I knew was over there since earlier this year were all the way in Italy, so that wouldn't have worked for our situation either ![]() But what you offered to do for my handicapped brother though, that's absolutely priceless!!

Quote Yes 40% volume peroxide cream. I love the looks you get when you walk into the Pharmacy and ask for "high percentage peroxide". Clerk: "What would you need THAT for?" *suspicious look* :-D Any experience on how good or long that retrobrite lasts? I've heard reports of people saying that the yellow came back fairly quick, and even worse?

Cballero, i’m happy how it’s came out. I didn’t do the back plate as all the connections and vents aew there but no one looks at that anyway. Would require i full strip down for that. How long does it last Seb. Well it’s not as clear cut as how long it lasts. From my previous 3 i’ve done including the monitor i can say the following- 1) it settles down 5% quite quickly within a month or 2 after that it depends where it’s placed. My 6200, keyboard and mouse i did about 4-5 years ago are still 75% as good as new. My monitor however which is in the shade i would say 50% and i did that at the same time. So strangely it retains its new look if its out in direct sunlight. What is good about retrobriting is it levels things out nicely so when it does start to yellow a bit, it does so consistently. I would definitely retrobite especially your Iici as it strips down so easily. Keyboards are a faff though. I’m out so today so I’ll likely get it on eBay tomorrow. I’ll post the link

If the retrobyte were like staining real wood, I'd say apply some high quality lacquer and you're done, but that's not the kind of finish anyone's looking for for vintage computers! ![]() We're finally nearing the finish line, yay!

Yay 😁 I’ll set it up for photo shoot tomorrow and get it on there. It looks good so fingers crossed it goes quickly:) It would be good if you could just varnish it but I imagine it would just go orange underneath then you wouldn’t be able to retrobrite it. So have any of you retrobrited your machines? There’s a few methods to use. As for the hair cream ordered it off eBay save the awkward questions at a salon lol
