Thought I'd point this out here because it's easy to miss on the Mac Garden - Blargg's hacked TwinTurbo 128 drivers resurfaced. They essentially allow you to run custom resolutions up to 1920x1080. There's also a custom graphics drivers for the built-in (!) video in models such as the PowerMac 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, and 8600. I don't see the use of running Mac OS 7.6 in 1080p but hey, it's cool that it is possible - especially since the TwinTurbo 128 is a relatively widespread graphics card for System 7 Macs. Just installed the drivers on my 8600 which has a Twin Turbo 128MA. Works very nice!

Awesome to see these available. I actually sent some $$$ to him to hack the other TT card. There's a short and long board version of the TT. I happened to have a short board version at the time and I traded my short one for his long one. That's how we figured out that each card requires slightly different hacked software to run properly (IIRC). I think I've got sets for the short board and long board, and I have some WIP versions saved too, but what's on the Garden is probably better since we had to work on them for a while. Let me go peek at the files and see if everything is included...

From the file on the Garden it appears that there are drivers for both, but what I have that aren't released is a custom resolution: 1280x720. The reason I got him to do that resolution is that at 1080, the icons are VERY small, and there's just too much space on the screen. You have to reposition your mouse 3 times just to get across the screen. The 720 drivers I have meets in the middle: the icons and GUIs are pretty much as big as usual, but you get the benefit of more width. I don't recall if I have separate 720 versions for each card (I think I do) but I at least know for sure that I've got the proper ones for the long board version since I sent him my short board to work on and he mailed me his long board. I don't think he'd mind me giving these 720 versions out. Would you like to post them?

That's some great background on these hacks, Syntho. Thanks for sharing! Of course we'd be very much interested to host the custom resolution in our System 7 drivers section. I actually wanted to reach out to the uploader on the Garden and see if he can give us permission to host them here too (although I'd offer separate packages depending on the long/short TwinTurbo128MA/TwinTurbo128M8A ones).

I have a sit uploaded now. I believe I have some other, older versions floating around. I didn't test and see exactly what's in what I uploaded, but it definitely includes the last stuff I was using at least.
