I've started "playing" around with Aquazone - a fish tank simulator - and the options of that baby seem almost limitless. You can stock your tank with dozens and dozens of different animals, which react realistically to feeding cycles or temperature changes. You can put in plants and weeds and various types of rock. You can introduce diseases and then try to heal them and so on and so on. The graphics are stunning for a 256 color display and it all runs smooth like ocean water up and down a sunny beach. |

I've long been a fan of After Dark's Fish module, and its progressions got cooler and cooler. I haven't played with it in a long while, but I'm definitely interested in any classic Mac aquariums, especially if it's compatible with 68k Macs!!  Thanks for pointing this one out 68040; it looks like a real gem!!

So essentially this lets you simulate a fish tank virtually? Without having to clean it, buy food and grab dead fish secretly in the morning before the kids wake up and drama unfolds? Sounds like a fun thing. I may get his one for the IIci and playing together with the kids. Thanks for the tip @68040!

You speak of one of the nastier parts of fatherhood. Our house was always full of pets, and when their time came "dad" would be called to deal with the dead and dying. It is a never ending job for one day there will probably be grand kids, and your kids will remember who handles such matters and call upon you to once again deal with it.  I guess you need to start thinking of yourself as the family's "delete" key.

C'mon folks, I wish someone other than my dog would call on me to save his world. 😳 As for Aquazone its not a simple screen saver, but a full fledged fish tank simulator. Think of it as SimCity on the reef. You have dozens and dozens of fish species (I found and uploaded many of them to the Garden), different types of food and various challenges and diseases to overcome. Different fish behave differently and plants and shells and fish all interact with each other, so that your virtual eco-system evolves over time. The graphics are so stunningly good (for 256 colors mind you) that I've decided to never buy myself an anologue aquarium again (which wouldn't fit into a suitcase of mine anyway)
