@cballero: mediafire? hmm. Would that be the same CD image as the Apple Legacy Software Recovery CD ? If so, DL #2 is the more user friendly of the two downloads on that MG page. |

@mac-cellar: Thanks, YW. @cballero: I've uploaded the HD image of System Pro with 7.6 Finder, for yourself or anyone interested in taking it for a test run on Basilisk II. It's pretty much a bare bones install, a 21MB download, expands to 160MB. I've installed a few useful items to make it easier to add more features, but you'll need to add your own favorite apps and games. If you want to "downgrade" the 7.6 Finder, just swap that Finder with one from a 7.5.5 or 7.5.3 install. If you want networks and internet you'll need Open Transport 1.1.1 (although I believe up to 1.3.1 works in 7.1+ too). If any programs require the Appearance Manager, or if you prefer a Mac OS 8 Platinum look, you'll need that too ![]() I haven't uploaded my favorite System 7 Pro combo though. One is installed on my Centris Mac and the other on a Basilisk II install, both have way too much stuff on them, all registered to me. Plus the networking setup on the B2 install uses the earlier MacTCP and not Open Transport. So there would be a bunch of junk on there to get rid of and you'd still need to do your own software installs, etc. Why MacTCP and not Open Transport's TCP/IP you may ask? Just wanted to see how it worked before there was Open Transport, and it happened to stick around. If it ain't broke and all that. That screenshot; my B2 currently thinks it's a Quadra 800 ![]()

Thank you for the upload, MTT! This should give me the start I need and I'll try to add the 1.3/1.3.1 OT to it as well, so fingers-crossed! ![]() (I'd imagined you'd basically move the prefs folder plus your documents folder/personal files, registered apps, CDEVs and INITs onto the desktop and either create an archive or image of the disk then use the Mac's amazing 'put away' feature to magically move everything back into place!) ![]() And yes! As you saw, I had gotten the Legacy CD link from the description paragraph on the its MG page (I totally missed the official download but the install image worked perfectly, lol)

Oh, and if you (like me) find audio is not working in that Basilisk II build. Update QuickTime. That fixed it for me. I installed the latest that runs in 68k Mac, ver 4.x

That's right!! It's one of that last updates I tend to do on this OS (now I'm curious to see if earlier QuickTime installs might do the trick as well?) I've always liked QT 4.0.3 (but outside of this odd B-II sound quirk) I wonder if we can get away with older versions and not miss a beat?

I installed QuickTime 2.5 on a fresh copy of the build from the above DL's Basilisk II image. It also cured the no audio issue for me. So I would think any version between 2.5 and 4.0.3 will be fine. Maybe 2.0 as well, but hey.
