Can anyone suggest me a good external cd rom drive for my Powerbook 540c (at least 2X speed). |

Pretty much any external SCSI CD-ROM drive will work. An Apple branded drive (Apple CD600e for example) should work "out-of-the-box", and be bootable, but you'll probably pay a pretty penny. A third party drive will require additional drivers, like FWB CD-ROM Toolkit, and isn't guaranteed to be bootable. You will also need an HDI-30 adapter to connect it to your 540c.
