So, I just picked up a 6500 to run 7.6.1 exclusively for nostalgia's sake. Now I'm looking at potential upgrades and advice, primarily because I'm not entirely familiar with System7's limitations. I intend to max out the ram. What about hard drive though? IDE drives can get significantly larger than the shipped 4GB - how high can I go? :-) Intending to get Radeon 7000 for video. Not really interested in G3 at the moment. Considering OrangePC 620 for fun. Anything I should especially be aware of? Thanks for your help |

I'd suggest adding an ethernet card, either: "10base-T, Comm Slot II Twisted-Pair Ethernet Card" Apple part# 661-1171 Assembly#: 630-1873 Board#: 820-0784-A, 05-3402B-815-1581 Or a PCI gigabit card based on the Realtek 8169 such as the Trendnet TEG-PCITXR. The other option is to get one of the Solectron 1394 PCILynx firewire cards. But since the 6500 only has 2 PCI slots, I'd recommend going with the ComSlotII NIC, leaving the 2 PCI slots for the Radeon 7000 and the OrangePC cards.
