Hello. I have a Colour Classic that I buyed of two days ago. Now I want to have 7.6.1 Just I'm a little afraid, that if I install 7.6, that most things get deleted or I need to reformat my harddisk. Is it possible to update 7.5.1 to 7.6 and then 7.6.1? |

When you start the install process with Mac OS 7.6, you should find options for a couple different types of installation. The option you want to select is upgrade. This option will replace existing components with new components and leave other items alone. There will also be a "Clean Install" option. This option will create a brand new system folder and install the newer OS in that folder. The existing system folder will be renamed "Previous System". No components will be erased, but if you wish to use items from the older system you will need to move them from the "Previous System" folder into the new System Folder. I generally use the Clean Install option. This creates a fresh new and stable system. None of my old components are erased and I can move them into the new system if I wish to or need to use them. Mac OS 7.6: Clean Install Instructions is the Apple instructions for doing a clean install of Mac OS 7.6. bill
