Hello, Are there any shareware or freeware apps to get Mac OS 7,8,9 to place icons on the left side of the screen instead of the right? Thanks, David |

What benefit could there possibly be in doing that?

I can not speak for System777 but for myself the purpose would be creating a left hand friendly system. Everything the Mac UI guidelines say is true and works well, however statements about mouse movement, menu and icon placement are only valid for right handed users. The speed and ease of movement mentioned would be accurate for a left handed user if it were mirror image. Very early in the Mac, there were applications/system extensions etc that would flip everything around, however like most low level stuff they broke with every System update and eventually such utilities dropped away. bill

Isn't there some app that, rather than moving the icons for you, remembers your icon placements if you move them yourself?

Actually, I'm not left-handed, but I do find that my brain thinks more in terms of left-to-right than vice-versa. I've tried using the standard setup for some time, but after moving the icons to the left, it is much better for me. The only problem is, any time it refreshes the icons, they always default back to the right.
