Hello System 7! I've been lurking here for a few months and have decided to join now that I have started a classic Mac collection. My first Mac was an all in one Performa in 1993 in 2nd grade, then a PowerBook 190, then some dark years in the windows world before I was given a Cube and a 17" PowerBook. I no longer have the Performa, which makes me sad. I really did like it. It even had a CD caddy, not a tray loading drive. There were a few reasons why I decided to start a classic Mac collection. I've always missed the multicolored Apple logo and I don't like the mentality of some Apple fans, where they toss out their old stuff the nano second something new is released. The older Macs have too much character and quirk to be forgotten about and discarded. My list so far is: PM 8600, PB G3 "Kanga", PB 3400c, and a beige G3 desktop. The 3400 is the only one running 7 at the moment, so I thought this website would be a good place to frequent. After reading some posts here and general info on why System 7 is so good, I decided not to put 8 on the 3400. When I pressed the power button (or rather when it started up on its own after I plugged it in), I was greeted by that big smiling Happy Mac. It was a nice sight to see. Anyway, thats a bit me and my Macs! |

Welcome to System 7 Today. Enjoy your visits. The site is focused on System 7.6.1, however there is a wealth of information about older Macs. We have a great many members with vintage collections. A powerbook 3400 is an excellent candidate for 7.6.1. Enjoy your visits. bill
