I have a Macintosh Classic (1990) which I would like to get up and running. I will download either System 6 or 7 from Apple's website, but I am unsure how to install the OS on the Mac. Currently, when powered up, the happy Mac logo is displayed followed by a flashing floppy disk with a question mark on it. What is the best way to get the files to the computer to install? |

If it is a Classic I, you could try using the secret ROM startup disk, by holding down [Command] + [Option] + X + O at startup. Once booted, you can copy over the system files at your leisure, provided your hard disk is still working! This startup combination does not work with any other Macs though. Good luck!
