i unhooked my 7.6 machine from my network. after the machine loads extensions it times out before the desktop comes up. i trashed my tc/ip pref and apple talk prefs but it still times out. what have i missed? it is looking for a network. if i turn apple talk off i get an error that print sharing is not avalible. but i do not have print sharing turned on sharing is off |

Networking preferences are held in many locations. They are also held in the PRAM. Sometimes getting things shut off and shut down so it sticks can be complicated. Make sure you have turned everything off. Restart, if things have come back on, turn them off again, trash the preference, zap the PRAM during a restart and see where you are again. Some printers are AppleTalk Printers and AppleTalk will need to be turned on to use them even if you are not part of a network. bill
