Not sure if this will run on System 7 or not, it may.  Needs faster PowerPC and a good video card (Rage or Radeon recommended).

If someone could try it out and tell me if it works that'd be super.  I don't have a fast System 7 machine handy at the moment (at school).

I remember this game fondly, been thinking of installing my old copy on a FW HDD so I could play it in Classic on my PowerBook G4 and relive my young days as a Mac gamer. This was about the only game to approach Marathon™ as being it.

My suspicion is that it was never supported and likely not tested under System 7 because it required a PowerPC G3 266 or higher when it shipped and no OEM G3 equipped Mac shipped with a PowerPC G3 in it. Any built-in graphics on a Beige G3 or later were supported and honestly the game ran just fine on those minimums (recommended 96MB RAM). The later 1.0.1 patch and the multi-player 1.0.3 patch both require 8.1, not sure but I believe the original release claimed to as well.

All that said, while the game was never supported under Mac OS 7.6.1, it may work before the updates are applied. The downside is that the updates add fixes for memory leaks, better RAVE graphics support, and save issues, and those updates require Mac OS 8.1.

I'll see if I can find the specs on my original disc and update this if they are any different than what I have noted.

Should read:

Man I am tired, time for bed.

Sure wish I could edit my post and fix such a silly mistake.

Irritatingly, the PowerMac G3/233 (the only suitable Mac I have available at the moment) requires OS 8, according to LEM.

That would be correct.  No system that shipped from Apple with a G3 can run Mac OS 7.
