I recently purchased a Powerbook 3400 from the local Craigslist. It came with system 7.6.1 installed restored to factory install. Unfortunately all the software I have downloaded either freeware or shareware come in a .bin format which requires stuffit expander. Searching on the web has proved to be fruitless for a version that will run on 7.6.1. Does anyone know how i can open these files on my powerbook? |

If, on your PowerBook 3400c, you have a web browser and access to the internet, then you can go here and download Stuffit: http://main.system7today.com/updates/76x_powerpc.html ...which will be in HQX format that most browsers will decompress automatically, including Netscape.

Any idea on if Microsoft "shudders" Internet Explorer will work?

Hi and welcome to S7T! My intention is not to be rude, and my apologies beforehand incase you feel I am. Dan has made a great and well working search option for the forums, and things like browsers, Stuffit and how to download old Mac apps with Windows and Linux are well covered with links and all. Internet Explorer should do it, yes... if thats what you have on there.
