I can not be of much help with Toast. In earlier versions of Toast there was an option to simply copy a CD. Assuming that the 7.6.1 CD you have is on an HFS disk it should make a duplicate of that.

I believe that in 10.2.x the image options were still in a seperate utility "Disk Copy". You might look for that in the Utility folder inside the Application folder.

If the disk image you're trying to burn is in HFS+, then the CD also has to be HFS+ unless you make a new HFS Standard image, copy all the files to that new image, then burn that.

WELL!! after some effort I figured out that my blank cd was not blank ie the error with toast. I tried again and  burned a hsf standard disk no problem.  You just have to make sure you select the mac os std and not the mac os extended.  So toast 5.2 will get the job done also,  I have toast 6 lite and this functionality appears to be dropped.

I was not able to burn the disk image.  I have a fire wire cd/dvd burner and disk copy said that I did not have an available burner.

You  know, you don't have to use Toast to burn disk images - you might have better luck with Disk Utility.

OS X has seemed to me to be a bit spotty about what gets supported and what does not as far as burners are concerned.

This link provides a listing of device manufacturers that make compatible firewire burners for use with 10.4.

This one talks about burner support that is available using 10.2.3.

PatchBurn is an OS X hack that expands the number of devices that can be used with OS X. Further google searching with "patchburn mac os x" will turn up links that will describe the process OS X uses to determine what burners to work with.

I have a lacie dvd double layer firewire burner the porche version.  I tried this with my b&W it has 1Gb memory and 700mhz sonnet upgrade running 10.2.4. I have 10.4.8 on a second drive I can try that.  After  loading 10.4 I went back to 10.2 I do not like 10.4 because it is soooo slow.  The lacie should be compatible but the drive is most likely newer that 10.2. Thanks for the help though, I enjoy this site.

Prior to OS X 10.3.5 Apple provided no support for double layer burners. So if you are trying it with 10.2.4 you probably need to have drivers and/or patches installed to make it work.
