...and great concept. We have been running Macs at my business for many years, all the way back to the Mac Plus. I really like OSX on our new Intel Mac, but I do like the older systems too. There is one particular 8500 PowerMac which was bought (well) used some 5 years ago and in regular service ever since, never paid much attention to it. But lately it's been getting a bit slow and tired from all the neglect. After finding and reading a bit on this site I was inspired to take a closer look at it and tore it right down to little pieces. It is running system 9.2 (like a slug I must add) and has 192 mega-bits of ram, a real mish-mash of 16's,32's and a 64, 4 Vrams are full but can't tell what value they are, a PowerLogix 333 MHZ daughterboard (dated 1998!) and a Radeon ATI 3D Rage Pro card. Whoa, impressive, no? Its day to day use doesn't require smoking guns power and buying another new Intel Imac would be just too easy and unimaginative. Overhaul and 7.6? |

Yes, that is a prime candidate for 7.6.1. Especially if you're running 9.2, which that system is technically not supposed to be compatible with (I'm aware of OS9 forever).

Thanks, I thought so. Little question: there's another card that was installed in it, looks like 2 old style ADB type sockets(sort of looks like an old printer socket) numbered 1&2, says "Innosys Inc" on the card model: PDS4(A1). Good sized card too, but I cannot seem to find any info with searches. Any ideas what the hell it is, or what it was for?

No idea about drivers for it, but I would suspect since it has the Mac type serial ports it might well just work as is. If you have an Mac serial printer or a modem, you may wish to just plug it in and see if it works. If it works with a printer or modem, it might be interesting to see if the ports can be selected for ports with AppleTalk. bill
