Hi, thanks for looking,

I downloaded the file for Netscape 3.0.4 from this site,  emailed it to mum's Powerbook 145B where I now need to install it.  It's a .bin file.

I guess I'll need to download Stuffit expander to do the installing, so;

- will the generic version of Stuffit work on this powerbook which is circa 1992 ?
- will it expand itself? One would assume so.
- do the Stuffit people send lots of advertising/spam? 'cos they ask for your email address.

Cheers for any help at all,  Joe.

Download Stuffit from this site, not from Stuffit.  You won't need to sign up for anything that way.

Hi, Joe:

In response to your questions:

Yes!  Just download the version that works with the System you are running.
Stuffit Expander 4.5 requires System 7.0.1 or higher.
Stuffit Expander 5.5 requires System 7.1 or higher.

Just double click on it, and the installer starts.

I've never received spam from Aladdin, the publishers of Stuffit.

If you need Stuffit Expander 5.5 you can bypass Aladdin altogether by downloading Stuffit directly from System 7 Today:   http://download.system7today.com/stuffit55.hqx

Stuffit Expander 4.5 can be found here:   ftp://ftp.pasteur.fr/pub/Mac/Compress&Translate/StuffitExpander/StuffitExpander4.5.sea

Good luck with your 145b--I hope you can put it back into productive use!

Thanks for your helps Dan and Ursa.  I can use Stuffit 5.5 and found where to download it - not in the software section.

Now, there are problems in that I downloaded it to my PC, and emailed it to the Mac where Eudora-lite split it in to three separate emails, putting the code in as text!

Do I need to rename the file extension to trick it or something?  How do I do this?

Cheers, Joe.
