I feel like @cballero when it comes to Mortal Kombat. Too much gore. Street Fighter felt superior in terms of gameplay. Mortal Kombat always felt like a Marketing pitch towards 15 year old males. ("oh look, it's super gory. If you play it, you are super mature mmmhmmm")

I remember when Mortal Kombat came out.  It was QUITE controversial at the time!

When I think of Golden Axe, I always think of its brothers Altered Beast and Shinobi.  In the arcades they used the same hardware, I believe, and the Genesis ports were quite good.

Hey snes1423 (and everyone else), here's a favorite music video of mine for you...it probably references dozens of classic games:

@snes1423 Golden Axe from Sega 1989 looks good, same mechanism used in Double Dragon.
I can't recall if I ever tried that one, some of it seems familiar. Thats' another one never ported to Mac.

Found this list from 1997.

Remember those terrific coin-op arcade games from the "good old days?" You remember, when the top of the line game cost a quarter and texture-mapped photorealistic sprites were still a fantasy? If you don't, chances are you won't find this web page useful at all! Presenting the Mac Arcade Games List. Find out what Mac game is similar (or in some cases, identical) to your favorite old arcade standards.
