Sierra's 1987 released King's Quest adventure game spawned a whole line of King's Quest games due to its success. Unfortunately, Sierra is notorious for their sloppy Macintosh ports, sometimes running only on specific models. Mac Garden user ameath went along and just patched the original King's Quest by using the launcher of the later King's Quest III, adapting a few items in ResEdit and bundling it all up. The result is a hacked together King's Quest I. But it is one that works in color on System 7 Macs, I've just successfully tested it on my Mac IIci. So in case you're interested to run this on your 68k color Macintosh, visit the respective Mac Garden page. Just thought that might be interesting for some of you who like gaming. Since I prefer slow-paced games for relaxation I've always liked Sierra adventures, but never got around playing King's Quest 1. If time permits, I'll do that when the weather starts to get worse this autumn. Maybe one you as well? :-) |
