This probably shows how long since I used 7.6.1 on a regular basis. I was/am using 7.6.1 on sheep shaver, using a prebuilt image. It is very nice and snappy. The image does contain a ton of applications that I am sure I have never heard of and will never use and it lacks applications that I want to use all the time. The image does have opendoc installed on the system. I went to Macintosh Garden to download Cyberdog. The Cyberdog installer comes as a zip file. What do you use to decompress a zip on System761? I gave Stuffit a try and it did nothing. In my estimation Stuffit is almost a reason onto itself to move away from using the Classic Mac OS.

@wove -there are separate Cyberdog version 1 & 2 pages at the MG, and both contain zipped archives. Anyway, I'm presuming you are talking about vers. 2.0 as it's the more recent of the two, and it runs in 7.6 etc. Bizarrely that v2.0 zip archive contains both 68k and PPC installers, each in separate StuffIt ".sit archives, inside of the zip download. MacZip unzips this download OK. There are 3 downloads on the MacZip page, only the top DL#1 is required. MacZip has very basic functions, dropping the "Cyberdog_2.0.zip" archive onto MacZip's icon will see this zip extract OK. Cyberdog_2.0.zip will then be extracted into a folder named "Cyberdog_2.0.zi0" in the same directory as the zip file. Inside of this folder will be the two StuffIt .sit archives. Both will have generic blank icons, so to extract the contents of these, you'll need to drag the one you need over and drop it onto an icon of StuffIt Expander, to get that utility to extract the installer for Cyberdog.

Thanks @MTT, I did get it all working. The System 7.6.1 image that I am using is running on the Basilisk emulator, and in honesty I do not really like Basilisk as well as I like Sheep Shaver. I have been using Sheep Shaver for Mac emulation ever since it was part of my BeOS install on my old PM8600 and I am not that familiar with Basilisk. I will say that 7.6.1 does boot quickly and the system is very snappy to work with.

That's the beauty of System 7 and why we love it here! ;-) That said, can't wait to get my 7500/100 send back from the recapping service to run the very 7.6 on it again :-)
