I would like to see a Preview button near the Post button.

My grammar and spelling is the pits and posting without being able to preview how a post looks before sending it off is not amongst my most comfortable moments.

I live in hope. ;)

I can not say that I do any better. Usually if I want a post to seem more thoughtful, I will compose it in NotePad or TeachText, or whatever text editor the system has. In that way I can proof read and correct it. Then when I think I have it right (and that is something of a stab in the dark), I can copy and paste it into the box. :D

I sometimes get lazy and just go with my post, errors and all, but I notice you get under a minute to check it out, always clicking return to post and quickly scroll down, spot any the glaring errors and quickly make a couple of adjustments, hoping I got them all before your post becomes 'modified' ;)

Worst case, you can copy, fix elsewhere, delete post and repost, but that's so much work that I just leave it as is at that point. And if I forgot a whole section, I'll just do a second post with the info I forgot to add. Having said all that, a preview button would be grand! :)

There is no timeout on the edit mode, so you can always come back & correct things.

True :) I just meant it gets date-stamped at the bottom and I prefer to get it all in one go knowing folks can read once and be good, you know? ;)

The preview function uses a lot of Javascript, so it was thrown out when we made the forums "old computer friendly". There is no was to add this feature back without making the forum less compatible on 68k Macs and such. I think that the edit option is the best compromise we have right now.

@Knezzen: that makes total sense! :D

One question that's been in the back of mind has been this: would it not be worth the effort to make certain cool options optional opt-ins?

So, for example, those who can breeze through the forums with an upgraded '040 card on their Quadra 840AV can opt to have images loaded ( well, that might be an issue for grand-pappy Macs viewing the forum, shoot!! :( ) okay, but maybe then those images could be in the form of links rather than in-line ( wow.. I'm beginning to see why everything was just kept 'KISS' simple lol)

Then again, in the case of images, they used to be a source of trouble historically mostly because they would need enough bandwidth to load fast enough, but that issue is largely moot, even using slower metered Internet sources like a phone's hotspot captured via WiFi to Ethernet adapter for example. Now it would be another issue altogether if most of our users were still on dial-up! :o

But if any such options would be feasible (and wouldn't be an awful headache to implement and/or maintain) then that would certainly make the S7T forums more fun and exciting, you know? ;)

I always wondered if there was a way to share quick uploads too, even if it was limited to PM to not make folks go overboard lol :) but no worries: these were just some thoughts and ideas I've meant to ask about to make our forums even cooler! 8)

Thanks for the input folks, seems like I have to grin and bear it  :P  ;)

Thanks for this. This is really useful information for me and my fumbling fingers :)

Hee hee :P

racing back is more of a last-ditch effort and puts a real time-crunch to get back and make those speedy edits before the buzzer hits that minute-mark.. I guess you could put your phone in stopwatch mode with an alarm lol ;)
