I'm about to upload to the MG some German softwares I found via the Web Archive. There are two lots of the same software, one labelled "German" and another labelled "German (CH)". I'm uploading both, but I don't know what country the (CH) represents here. I'd like to find out what this (CH) stands for, before uploading. My searches so far have resulted mostly with results on how to pronounce "ch" in German. I'm pretty sure search engines used to be much better 10 years ago ![]() Help needed.

Thank you for preserving German software, MTT! There was actually a lively niche market here in Germany up until the early 2000s, with even some software being published exclusively for the German market. Unfortunately, most of the software is hard to find today. I've been contacting previous publishers asking for "leftovers" but had no luck so far. Stuff like Der Kontorist (Bookkeeping for small business) or Steuerfuchs (tax preparation software) or MacGiro (Banking). Not to mention games, some exclusive stuff (usually shareware) as well as many English games with very professional localization and sometimes added extras.

Not a problem. It's really important to preserve software, as once it disappears it's very difficult to recover, as we well know. I was lucky to find those additional v4.1 copies. A shame there weren't earlier versions available, but the Web Archive as great a resource as it is, has its limitations. Circa 1997 or '98 is one of them.
