Recently ran into PixelPipe, which is an image converter that does batch jobs e.g. converting 20 .pict images to jpg. Also allows for adding certain  effects to the pictures but I haven't tested that. It uses our swiss army knife Quicktime for that and does the job fairly quick. (well, I've only so far been able to test it on OS9.)

The cool thing is that this thing is supposed to work on System 7 as well, starting with 7.1 and up. And it's a 68k binary, so I'll definitely check it out on my IIci next time I boot it. :-)

I've uploaded the software to the Mac Garden where it wasn't before, so feel free give it a spin if you find it interesting.

Nice find - seems to work very nicely.
Lots of conversion/enhancement options, but unfortunately can't save as GIF, which rules out one task I had for it.
It won't run without Quicktime 4+ installed.
Free for non-commercial use.

Yes, it's nice. Good for quick converting PICT screenshots into something more cross-platform.

It's a keeper. Thanks.

I could have used a piece of software like that 20 years. As I moved over to OS X and Linux, I spent more time than I care to think about converting hundreds of pic files to newer formats. Overall it would be nice if they would just choose a format and stick with it. I converted pic files to jpeg and gif only convert those to png files later.

As I recall pic files really started to phase out with the end of the 68k Macs. Although Macs kept the ability to read the files for a good long time.
