Ok, we blew it. System 7.0 was released 30 years ago. More precisely on May 13, 1991. Should S7T have celebrated it big time? Oh yes, we should have! But neither me nor Knezzen had the time and so we missed the date. Ouch.

But you know what? We're making it up with something special. We're finally unraveling the mystery of the System 7.0 release date. You think May 13th, 1991 was chosen by accident? Hah, little do you know!

In fact, the following calculations prove that Apple had this date in mind way back in 1984.
Look at the date May 13, 1991 and recall its numeric form: 5 - 13 - 1991.

Why the 13th... ? Of course there is the obvious: 7 squared = 49 AND 4 + 9 = 13! Sheer coincidence?

But wait, there is more!
Consider 5 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 1 = 29 (AND 2 + 9 = 11, another lucky number)
NOTICE:  9 – 2 = 7 !!!!!!!

The numbers TWO and NINE are important in other ways:

The original Macintosh was introduced on January 24, 1984, right? In other words 1/24/1984.
You guessed it! 1 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 4 = 29 !
Once again, 9 – 2 = 7

AND consider this: 5 + 13 + 1991 = 2009. 2 00 9 !!
I remind you, 9 – 2 = 7

Take the Mac’s birthday again: 1/24/1984
It is no surprise that 1 + 2 4 + 1984 = 2009 as well.
Don't forget, 9 – 2 = 7

Finally, count the letters in: “Macintosh System Seven Point Zero”

-> 29 letters !!!  Here we go again ...

And just in case you aren't convinced yet:

May 13th is the 133rd day of the year and 1 + 3 + 3 = 7

So while we did not celebrate the birthday with caviar and champagne, we finally published the truth about the original System 7.0 release date. Knezzen and I are already applying for an episode on Mystery Hunters or whatever shows TV channels like TLC air. Watch out for our feature in a trash TV show near you ;-)

oh and - Happy Birthday, System 7!
