I think the only extensions/CPs that I like are Bunch 'O Apps (gives you a list of your favorite programs in the control strip) and Liteswitch (lets you switch between applications with Command-tab). What are some of your favorite utilities that make using S7 more of a breeze?

Other than the usual extension pruning and adding memory to each program, I like turning on Windowshade (double click top bar of window to minimize). And this one might be overlooked but is very convenient: in the General Controls CP, I turn on 'last folder used by program' for the saving/opening option. This means that every program defaults to a folder that you select instead of having to browse from the default folder every single time. Saves a lot of time!

There are many more but I wanted to get this thread going. Let's hear some of your favorites.

StickyClick and Forward Delete are must-haves!

Forward Delete works fine in my word processing application. Does it add it to the system globally, like for renaming files?

I also love forward delete, it's very handy :)

My absolute favorite add-on to all my System/Mac OS 7 desktops is PopupFolder 2.0.1. It bring right-clicking to life in OS 7 :D

If you want to use shortcuts in Mac OS 7.6.x, you have to make them in a previous version of the OS and copy the PopupFolder preferences file to your prefs folder in Mac OS 7.6. For example, I like adding Command-T for the Empty Trash menubar item. I'm sure there's other menu shortcut tools that work with Mac OS 7.6.x, but I like to minimize redundant system folder items whenever possible because I use so many of them and I doubt I'll be adding that many menubar shortcut. lol, don't give me any bright menu shortcut ideas now! ;)

Oh, and there is Finder Options and/or Hidden Finder Features, which can be used to enable hidden commands in the Finder!

And of course who can go without Windows 2.1 for adding a Windows menu to the menubar in System 6 and early 7? Smart enough to not duplicate the menu if it's already present in another application!

(Unrelated to any OS of a similar name...)

I get annoyed if using a Mac without...

Applwindows 2.0.2 (freeware)
This CP adds sub menus to items in the application menu, showing each application's windows. You can switch from any window to any other window, but I find it most useful as a quick check on what files I've got open. Also adds optional pop-up menus and application switching via keys. I find it very stable.

Click there it is! 1.0.9 (Shareware)
Get a bit lost in open/save dialog boxes sometimes? Find it frustrating when you can see the finder window in the background but struggling to navigate to it. With tis extn. you can just click on the window in the background and hey presto it's in the dialog box!
Only works up to 8.1 (not with the horrible navigation services of later OS).

Typeit4me 4.8.1 (Licence required)
System wide text expansion CP. You set it up with a load of short codes which when typed get changed to a longer piece of text. You could use it for an address or frequent phrase. I use it for team names which I have to type a lot.

Yes! TypeIt4Me is the bomb!

It just reminded me of another System 7-friendly extension that I like is Circumnavigator :)

With the Appearance Manager, it's possible to adjust the width of columns within windows in the Finder. Is there anything before that that allows for the same thing? Long filenames, file sizes, etc, are merely truncated instead of compressed to fit the column width...

That Applwindows control panel... whoa. It's perfect. I just tried Liteswitch, but Applwindows replaces it for me. Now I can switch between programs really fast, but I also won't get as lost since I have hierarchy in the application switcher for when I've got multiple documents open in a program.
