Little update to our S7T games section. In the recommended games for kids section I've added Where is the car key?. It's a nice little diversion that runs on b&w Macs. My kids (and their friends) greatly enjoyed it. Seems like simple games mimicking real-life are the most fun to my girls - maybe yours too? If you got (grand)kids, a b&w compact Mac or if you're just curious, give it a try

System 7 Today's tireless software experts on kids software (aka my three children) have another recommendation for the youngsters of fellow System 7 afficionados: Hide and Seek has just been added to our Games - Kids section. It offers no less than the good old Hide and Seek experience, set in a virtual black & white condo. You can either hide or (for more fun) seek the hidden kid. One or two players.

Another update to our list of recommend low end games: Legend of the Lost Realm 1 and 2. Great RPG classic that were Mac exclusive and make very nice usage of the Mac interface. Great on e.g. a SE/30

My four year old enjoyed Mouse Practice to learn how to use a mouse. His next game was Lemmings, which he liked playing the easier levels, and watching me play the higher ones. Any ideas for the next step in four year old gaming?

Yes! Did you see our list? As parents, we realize our kids are all different and show different interests, so I don't think there is one title that will be loved by all. That said, I personally like Kid Pix for allowing them to express their creativity. May need adult help once the screen is "full" and they want to save / make a new one. SnapDragon from that list may also good for your 4 year old - he can colour pictures and explore the world of the friendly dragon. I found my kids were able to use it without my help after a very brief introduction. If you got some time to spare, play the Where is the Car key? game together. It's very simple (actually, made by a kid) but my children found it very entertaining to search for something together.

Another neat title that should work marvelously on lower-end Macs is Seahaven Towers, a nice card game from '88 that tends to lure me in often enough for a game play (I definitely recommend this one!) http://macintoshgarden.org/games/seahaven-towers
