A year ago my 17" PowerBook G4 was stolen.  Now, I'm getting another one in the form of my mom's old one (she is to buy 17" MacBook Pro as replacement).  Yay!

I'm not sure aboot the rest of you, but if it weren't for mom's how would any of us get to play with new macs. Mines got a 12in ibook g4. It's what got me to get my 1400 up and running. Now wifi in os 8.6 and system 7.6.1. Now if I can get them all to talk to each other and to mom's, life will be less, zip drivey.

What kind of work does your mom do? Graphic Design?

I wish you the best of luck on not getting the new one stolen. Large shiny objects atract alot of attention.

Actually, she is in the cosmetic business, which has nothing to do with computers.  She just likes to have the best.  She is buying a 30" ACD to compliment her MBP as well.

It's a 1ghz PowerBook that I'll be getting, the first 17" (she bought it as soon as it was available back in 2003).

In my mom's case, she travels and wanted something easy to use. So Naturally I had her pick out a mac. :D
