Hi All: I remember that I used to use iView Media Pro back in the day or ACDSee for Mac (IIRC Both were under OS 8+). I was wondering if someone could recommend an application that runs under 7.1-7.6 that allows viewing of graphics in at least jpg, gif and mac formats. PNG would be very nice too, although vintage software will not support it most likely. I was looking all over for an installer for iView MP and of course I would not have a serial any longer... and since Microsoft owns them now... they are absolutely no help. Any suggestions are welcome. |

GraphicConverter is the king for classic Mac graphics IMO. It can deal with those formats you mention and many more. It works with system 7. There is 68k and PPC versions. Worth paying the shareware fee for. I've found version 3.7.2 optimal for me.

I used iView Multimedia from its earliest release and was a huge fan. I think the iView Multimedia Pro became a later version of the software arriving during OS 8.6/9 and I do not think it would work with System 7. You should be able to locate earlier copies of iView and if you can not, I do have copies of it. I will not be able to help you with serial numbers for the software. It always seemed odd that they sold out to Microsoft. It was a very prototypical Mac application and must have needed expensive revision to work with Windows. I believe that MS sold the company off and they are back to being independent software, but I doubt they will have recovered from the years of turmoil. bill

What about JPEGView? I have been using that one with my MacII. As the name states, it is a viewer, not much else. http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/jpegview
