I'm sure lots of old authentic Apple-branded SCSI drives can be had at the LEM Swaplist: http://lowendmac.com/lists/swap.html

I myself bought two 10 GB Seagate Barracudas on Ebay for like $10, and then bought two adapters because of the incompatible pins, and they've worked fine for about six years now even with the standard unmodified Apple Disk Utility.

Guys,
It seems that the problem was not the Hard Drive but the PRAM battery. The battery I had in my 6100/66 had a little juice left. After some googling it turn out the 6100 has some bad behaviour when it comes to low pram batteries. So I'm going to blame it on that :). Today it even refused to show anything on screen while the hd booted up normally I could here the warning signal that tells me my clock isn't set right.
