Yeah. All iMacs are G3s or higher. None can run System 7. As a general rule of thumb, you can't run a version of Mac OS earlier than whatever originally shipped on a particular Mac. Some Performas were exceptions to this rule simply because they were repackaged older models.

Another even simpler rule of thumb: no Mac that originally shipped with a G3 or higher can run System 7. I've heard from one single person that the original PowerBook G3/250 can run a hacked version of Mac OS 7.6.0 (not 7.6.1 for some reason), but that person has yet to verify this with me or show me how. I've tried and couldn't do it.

Minimum any iMac can run is Mac OS 8. Depending on what model you have, that minimum could be 8.1, 8.5, 8.6, 9.x.x... etc.

Hey everybody! I FIXED THE COMPUTER!!!!!

Here is what I did:

I downloaded this (look for a program called bootcd), then I made a live disk of os x on my working mac.  After that I booted off the disk on the broken mac, ran disk util., fixed the hard drive, and it runs perfect! With all apps it had before and os 9!

Thanks for your advice everyone!
