Hello i have a working quadra 950. Installed two partition in one system 7.6.1 and in the other system 8.1. The first problem is the emachines video card. It works perfect (in 8.1 and 7.6.1) but i can't get it out of 640x480. Is connect to a apple 21" multiscan. The card have a rotatory multiposition switch it's design to be use whit non apple monitors to choose resolution i have tried it in every position but i can't get it out of 640x480. The same monitor on the onboard video give 1024x768. The emachines card let me go to millons of colors on 640x480. I have found a program super_res_11.hqx that seems to let you select any resolution but i can't find the file i search arround internet but all links point to griffin website and the link is broken. The second problem is the houdini card. I have instaled the apple dos support software 1.0. It's works great i can switch to the houdini and installed dos perfeclty. But if i install a ram simm (i have a box of 20 simms ranging from 4 to 32 megs i tried everyone of them and have the same crash) on the card i get a bomb when the control panel is loaded at system startup. (this on system 7.6.1). So someone knows how to get the emachine video card to other resolution?. Where i can download super_res_11.hqx or somebody could send it to my?. Why the dos control panel crash when i have installed memory on the card?. |

I can not help with the video card. This site is an FAQ for the Houdini DOS cards and may have useful information. This site is an FAQ for the newer DOS cards, but many contain useful tidbits as well. Apple has updated software for its DOS cards, which can be found here . I am not positive why you are experiencing crashes with memory installed on the DOS card, but those problems often stem from using memory with the wrong speed ratings. I do not know the correct specifications for DOS card memory, but perhaps the specs are included in the above mentioned FAQs. bill

Thanks for the reply wove. I have tried to run the new 1.5 and 1.6 control panel/extensions but they are incompatible whit the Houdini card i tried anyway and get a hang when the dos apple bios load. The houdini faq says that the SIMM memory is not a special one that any SIMM from 4 to 32 megs must work.
